No other vehicle in the world matches the elegance and exclusivity of a Bugatti. Owners are invited to join a club of just a few hundred people in the entire world, and every model that rolls off the factory floor in Molsheim can count itself among the rarest cars in the world.
Then, some take it even further. Through the Bugatti Sur Mesure program, Bugatti buyers can work with the marque’s highly skilled color experts to create something that’s not only 1 of a million, but one of a kind.
If you’re thinking about commissioning a custom Bugatti of your own, check out these masterpieces for a bit of inspiration.
Chiron “Zebra 1 of 1”
The Zebra earned its moniker by featuring a truly striking paint job, consisting of Titanic Blue and Gunpower Grey in an intricate hand-painted stripe pattern. The dark gray tones dominate the upper half of the vehicle, before subtle giving way to the bright blue tones underneath. This interesting two-tone goes against the grain by not entirely conforming to the natural contours of the doors and quarter panels, creating an unforgettable effect.
Not much is known about the backstory of this mysterious commission. Dig around online in the luxury car spotter pages and forums, and you’ll scarcely see this reclusive beast—the most recent we could find was nearly 2 years ago in Los Angeles.
Still, it’s undeniable that the mystery is part of this model’s legacy.
Divo “Lady Bug”
Produced between 2019 and 2021, there are only 40 Divo units in the entire world, which makes this particular model a massive rarity even by Bugatti standards. The Lady Bug is perhaps the most well-known, thanks in part to its unmistakable color scheme.
That color scheme—which was developed specifically for the customer—is made up of Customer Special Red and Graphite metallic tones. A geometric diamond design was then created using CAD software, but the real challenge came when it was time to paint the said design onto the varied curves of the Divo’s body panels. The designers had to be sure to get every angle right down to the millimeter, and the entire process took over a year and a half.
As the story goes, the team behind the Lady Bug nearly gave up due to the difficulty of the task. But, through sheer perseverance and commitment to excellence, they were finally able to deliver the vehicle, which ended up having around 1,600 individual diamonds.
Chiron Sport “Alice”
Maybe the most heartwarming entry on this list is the "Alice". It was commissioned by a husband as a gift to his wife. And he had a very exacting vision for what it would look like.
The palette that the customer and creative team decided on was a combo of Matte Blanc for the front and doors, and a specially formulated hue called Silk Rosé, which covers the entire outer shell. In addition to the bespoke exterior, the interior of the Alice features comfort-spec seats made of leather and Alcantara and a custom “Alice” logo stitched into the upholstery and embedded in the door sills.
We can only assume that the customer won the official “Husband of the Year” award.
