Annual Bugatti Service Guide
One of the most important aspects of owning any car is keeping up with regularly scheduled maintenance, and maintenance on a Bugatti is no exception—in fact, it’s even more important for high-performance exotic supercars.

It’s no secret that Bugatti maintenance comes at a high cost, which is reflective of the incredibly complex inner workings of these vehicles, and the extensive expert knowledge required to understand them. Luckily, new Bugatti vehicles now come with a four-year warranty in the U.S., as well as multiple other plans for pre-owned models, which can save tens of thousands of dollars.

Let’s be real though, if you bought a Bugatti, you’re not too worried about pinching pennies on service.

Bugatti Oil Change and Fluid Maintenance

Because Bugatti owners don’t tend to drive their vehicles every day, and because of the use of high-performance full synthetic oil, a Bugatti car usually doesn’t need to have multiple oil changes per year like the typical American daily driver. For instance, the manufacturer recommends Bugatti Veyron oil change maintenance be done once a year or every 10,000 miles. It’s a similar story for other popular models. Go any longer between oil changes, and you risk decreased performance and engine damage due to bad oil gunking up the works.

When dropping your Bugatti off for an oil change, you can realistically expect it to be in the shop for about a week. As we’ve covered before, Bugatti oil changes take a long time because it basically requires the technician to disassemble half the car, drain the old oil, put new oil and a filter in, and then reassemble it. Even with a team of professionals who specialize in Bugatti service, this process alone usually takes a few days.

Bugatti Tire and Wheel Service

As with all other cars, keeping tires serviced is crucial to performance and longevity. A key part of tire service is having them rotated on a regular basis. Tire rotations and wheel alignments are important because they ensure that all four tires wear out evenly, which can save you tens of thousands of dollars on new Bugatti tires.

It’s recommended that a full-on tire replacement happen every 10,000 miles. However, be sure to follow manufacturer guidelines, depending on your model—the ultra-rare Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport maintenance schedule, for instance, recommends that tires be replaced entirely after just 2,000 miles.

Similarly, wheels are recommended to be replaced about every 10,000 miles as well, so it’s possible that you’ll be doing both at the same time unless the car is rarely driven. Having to have the wheels replaced comes as a surprise to most, but the simple fact is that even performance parts wear out quickly due to the sheer horsepower that a Bugatti engine puts out, often over a thousand. Keeping both the tires and wheels ship-shape is incredibly important because they’re the main point of contact between the road and suspension, and thus take on the brunt of the abuse when driving at hypercar speeds.

Bugatti Brake Service

It goes without saying that if you’re driving fast, you’re going to have to stop fast as well. At a bare minimum, you should have brake fluid flushed and replenished once per year.

Wear-and-tear parts like brake pads, rotors, and calipers will vary, depending on how hard you run your Bugatti. Brake pads will often be the first to wear out, and they’re designed to emit a whining or chirping sound when nearing the end of their lifespan. Rotors may also need to be dealt with because the intense heat and friction of the pad pressing against the rotor will wear it down over time, at which point the rotor will either need to be resurfaced, or replaced entirely.

You can do a visual inspection of brake pads on some models. If the surface of the pad is 3 millimeters or thinner, you’re overdue. Consulting a Bugatti service center near you is the best way to know for sure if you’re in need of routine service.

Other Bugatti Regular Maintenance

Bugatti has long maintained that their vehicles should undergo standard annual service, which is a multi-point inspection that assesses over 70 components to ensure tip-top performance. These inspections typically take about a week, and they will usually include the aforementioned details. Other components that must be checked yearly include:
  • Transmission fluid
  • Coolant
  • Battery health
  • Air filters
  • Headlights, taillights, brake lights, and blinkers
  • Windshield wipers and fluid
  • Detailing
