Bugatti vehicles are at the top of the class in terms of power, performance, and luxury. For decades, they have pushed boundaries and innovated incredible feats of mechanical engineering. With their new design studio set to reside in Berlin, the future has never looked brighter, and the horizon has never been closer as they race towards perfection yet again.
Once a techno club (and formerly the U-Bahn system’s power station), the new Bugatti studio in Berlin, Germany, is 12,000 square feet, sprawling out and giving Bugatti designers and engineers a creative space that blends old and new. Original ceramic tiles line the floors and walls of this expansive space, with 100-year-old cast iron staircases to elevate workers to walkways above.
Now, Bugatti continues to make history within Germany. Some years ago, the Bugatti Veyron and Bugatti Chiron were designed within Germany’s borders, ushering in an age of never-before-seen performance and horsepower in vehicles with the W-12 engine. But in the new factory, things are progressing more than anyone could have imagined.

Even as recently as a few years ago, Bugatti technicians would use clay models to tinker and tweak vehicles. Each line was a painstaking detail before it became a labor of love to craft out of metal before hitting the road. Today, a new set of tools is being used to create the Bugatti Chiron successor, and it’s a medium we’ve all become accustomed to.
Virtual reality, and VR headsets, are the way of the future inside the Berlin Bugatti design lab. What may look like an open design studio to a passerby, engineers see an entirely different world. Every angle, every curve, every minor detail is as real as you or the words on this page, is in front of them as they model the hyper-luxury cars of the future with meticulous detail.
The exterior is rendered in VR to a fraction of a millimeter, but don’t fret. Every iota of the interior is rendered as well, giving designers and engineers the freedom to explore and modify the seating, passenger volume, and tiniest accents with ease. Drivers, in just a few years at most, will have the most perfectly crafted vehicle that elevates every drive to feeling like you’re on the track. Speaking of the racing track…
Bugatti is currently evolving the W-12 engine beyond the capacity of its form, requiring an update. What could be more powerful than the W-12 engine? We’re glad you asked: The V-16 engine. That’s right, Bugatti engineers are adding even more horsepower under the hood to deliver ever-thrilling rides. The W-12 is capable of hammering out an astounding 1,825 horsepower; just imagine what the V-16 can do.
Which vehicle will the V-16 be placed in next, you may ask? The highly-anticipated Bugatti Tourbillion. This next-gen hypercar will come from the next-gen studio in Berlin, and it promises to shatter expectations of what a Bugatti can do. There’s no doubt that performance and luxury will have a happy marriage in the Tourbillion, and if you loved the Chiron, the Tourbillion is sure to make you consider trading-in your vehicle.
