5 of the Fastest Street-Legal Bugatti Models Ever Made
Look up any list of the quickest cars in existence, and you’re sure to find at least one Bugatti model somewhere near the top. That’s because Bugatti has been at the vanguard of performance development for well over a hundred years, from their beginnings at the turn of the 20th Century, to the founding of modern Bugatti as we know it and all the way up to the present day.

Of course, crafting the fastest cars is all well and good, but it’s an entirely different task to make one that’s street-legal in the U.S. Doing so presents its own set of hurdles to overcome, but the engineers at Bugatti have never been keen on accepting limitations.

Without further ado, here are some of the fastest Bugatti models that you can actually drive on the roads of Miami and beyond.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

The Veyron is the first modern production Bugatti, and the Grand Sport Vitesse is arguably the pinnacle of the model’s available lineup. At the time of its production, it was the fastest roadster ever made, with a top speed of 254 MPH and a 0 to 60 time of just 2.6 seconds.

Some diehard Bugatti fans may notice that this technically isn’t the fastest Veyron model—that honor actually goes to the Veyron Super Sport, which held the world record for a time and topped out at 267 MPH. However, we included the Vitesse on this list because of the immense design hoops that the team had to jump through.

Designing a hyper-fast open-top car isn’t as easy as it sounds. The lack of a solid roof completely changes the vehicle’s aerodynamics, and Bugatti engineers had to creatively solve this in a myriad of ways. The result may not be the absolute quickest, but it’s arguably the most impressive.

Bugatti Centodieci

This stunning model saw a highly limited production run of only 10 cars, making it one of the rarest vehicles in the world. Its release was an homage to the legendary EB 110, which marked the return of the Bugatti marque in the modern era and was itself one of the fastest cars of the ‘90s.

Continuing this legacy, the Centodieci, which is Italian for “110,” can climb from 0 to 60 in just 2.4 seconds, and achieves speeds of up to 236 MPH. So, while it may not be the fastest Bugatti hyper sports car by a long shot, it earns a spot on the pantheon for its sheer rarity and its slick-yet-subtle deference to record-setters of the past.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

The next generation of Bugatti after the Veyron, the Chiron brought on a new era of speed records all on its own. The original Chiron boasted 1,500 horsepower and a top speed of 260 MPH, but that was only a taste of what was to come.

The ultimate example of the Chiron is the Super Sport 300+. As the name suggests, this vehicle is capable of exceeding speeds of 300 MPH—304.7, to be exact. It was able to do this thanks to a heap of upgrades to the original Chiron, including revised suspension and aerodynamic profile, as well as a souped-up engine that cranked out 1,578 horsepower.

Like many modern hypercars, the 300+ came with an electronic speed limiter that needs a special key to unlock. In fact, the 30 buyers lucky enough to grab one had to undergo extensive training for the privilege of joining the true 300+ Club.

Bugatti W16 Mistral

This one is bittersweet in a way, because the Mistral is the last street-legal Bugatti to feature the iconic 8.0-liter W16 engine. So, of course, we had to include it here.

Like the Chiron Super Sport, the Mistral is motivated by a prodigious 1,578 horsepower, but it has a style all its own, exemplified by the X-shaped taillights and timeless roadster body style. And, like the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, it set a new speed record for an open-top car. In 2024, the W16 Mistral was clocked at 282 MPH, setting a bar that stands to this day (until Bugatti breaks it again, we assume).

Bugatti Tourbillion

With the retirement of the W16 engine, Bugatti went back to the drawing board to create its next road-legal production model. The Tourbillion has yet to be released to buyers, but we know that it’s powered by a naturally aspirated V16 engine paired with three electric motors. The motor delivers 1,000 ponies, while the hybrid system nets an additional 800 for a system total of 1,800 horsepower. Yes, you read that correctly.

With this downright absurd amount of power, the Tourbillion is said to be able to reach speeds of 236 MPH with the electronic limiter and 276 MPH with the Speed Key engaged, and thanks to its aerodynamic qualities and the insane torque of the electrified powertrain, it will travel from 0 to 60 in less than 2 seconds. With these specs projected at the outset, we can only imagine what new records this new Bugatti model will shatter.
