final Chiron model

Time sure flies, doesn’t it? It feels like just yesterday, the very first Bugatti Chiron graced the stage at the Geneva Motor Show for its official unveiling. In reality, that was eight years ago, way back in the halcyon days of 2016.

Now, here we are in 2024, and the very last Bugatti Chiron model has officially left the factory in Molsheim and found its lucky owner. Being that it’s the final production Chiron, the Bugatti Sur Mesure team decided to go all-out on the spectacle.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Chiron L’Ultime.

Exquisite Design

The Chiron already stands head and shoulders above most cars in terms of its iconic looks, and the L’Ultime takes it a few steps further.

As a nod to the first Chiron, the color scheme chosen is a two-tone gradient of Atlantic Blue in the front and the famous French Racing Blue toward the rear. Bold hand-written script—which lists significant events and locations in Bugatti history—covers the doors and part of the front fender, highlighting the color transition, which is seemingly symbolic of the French automaker’s transition into a new era of hypercar development.

The L’Ultime features a few other significant exterior flairs, including a red, white, and blue stripe along the mirror to represent the French flag, wheels colored to match the body, and sharp, stylish numbering on the quarter panel that reads “#500.”

The 500 motif can be seen all throughout the final Chiron model, including stitched into the seats and embossed on top of the incomparable W16 engine.

Stunning Performance

At its core, the L’Ultime is a Chiron Super Sport, one of the fastest sports cars ever devised.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is motivated by an 8.0-liter W16 engine with four separate turbochargers. This ballistic setup cranks out 1,180 pound-feet of torque and 1,578 horsepower; for reference, Formula 1 cars have about a thousand horsies.

Or, to put it another way, the Chiron Super Sport can do a zero-to-sixty run in about 3 seconds, and it can achieve nearly 250 miles per hour in under half a minute on a straightaway. Yeah, we still can’t believe it’s street legal either.

With the news coming out over the past few years that Bugatti is developing a new powertrain, the Chiron L’Ultime may be one of the very last models to feature the legendary W16 motor.

Every inch of the Chiron Super Sport’s exterior is engineered to maximize downforce and reduce drag, allowing the beaucoup horsepower and torque to push the hyper sports car to unbelievable speeds without sacrificing handling. Suspension is also fine-tuned for a sure-footed ride, even at at high velocity.

Bidding Farewell to a Legend

The Chiron L’Ultime is truly the end of an era, but rather than tears, it’s a cause for celebration as we look forward to what’s next.

Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles, said that, “This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June.”

The Chiron L’Ultime’s price tag has yet to be confirmed, but the Super Sport is known to go for north of $4 million.
