When it comes to popular luxury car brands, the most demanding Miami shoppers know there’s only one brand at the pinnacle and truly worthy of consideration: Bugatti.
Bugatti has represented the absolute best of luxury and performance since Ettore Bugatti first showed three cars at the 15th Paris Motor Show in 1919.
The team at Braman Bugatti Miami will happily help secure your perfect new Bugatti, but we want to recognize 10 unique pieces of Bugatti vehicular history that will absolutely draw stares on the streets of Miami if you are fortunate enough to add one to your collection.
This Is Not A List Of The Top 10 Most Expensive Cars
However, it includes a Bugatti whose owner can realistically claim a spot among automotive enthusiasts whose collections include the most expensive production vehicles on the planet as that person owns the Bugatti La Voiture Noire.
The La Voiture Noire is the embodiment of Bugatti’s expertise in engineering and design, and it’s also a unique one-off piece of the Bugatti story. Bugatti described this beauty as possessing “the comfort of a luxury limousine and the power of a hyper sports car” and the owner paid nearly $20 million for the privilege of parking it in their garage. That buyer has been anonymous so far but, as this Bugatti masterpiece appeared at SOC Croatia in 2022, you may want to start your search for Le Voiture Noire with a flight to Zagreb.
A list of that sort might also include some variation of the legendary Veyron. It might be the Super Sport iteration of the Veyron – surely a limited production and top speed of over 430 km/h would help it fetch a healthy final bid at any auction hosting Bugatti enthusiasts near Miami or around the world.
Consider also the Grand Sport – the roadster variant capable of a top speed of 360 km/h. We like to think of it as the ultimate way to dry your hair after a day at the beach or country club pool.
The Veyron typically commanded an asking price of at least $1 million, and an example like the Veyron Linea Vivere had an original asking price of over $2 million. These two Bugatti examples were anything but inexpensive and would slot nicely onto any “Most Expensive Cars” collection.
It’s Also Not Just A List Of The Top 10 Fancy Cars
If it were, it would likely include the Bugatti Type 41 “Royale” – a massive and luxurious model produced from 1927 to 1933. The Royale tipped the scales at a hefty 7,000 pounds and was powered by a mighty 12.7 liter eight-cylinder engine. Students of Bugatti history will appreciate the elephant radiator cap which was sculpted by Rembrandt Bugatti, but those looking to secure a Type 41 will have a long search. The Great Depression put a firm cap on demand for the Royale, and only 6 examples remain. A selection of replicas are available to Bugatti enthusiasts looking to bolster their collections.
The list would also need to include the legendary Bugatti EB 110. The EB 110 was the only production model released by the Italian version of Bugatti which was headed by Romano Artioli until its dissolution.
This Bugatti is considered the premier super sports car of the 1990s and its combination of light weight and massive quad-turbocharged V12 engine serves as an inspiration for modern hyper cars. The EB 110 set acceleration and top speed records for its time, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.26 seconds and a top speed of 351 km/h.
The fact that an unfinished EB 110 was completed as recently as 2019 is a powerful statement on the legacy of the EB 110 and its desirability to Bugatti enthusiasts.
We Didn’t Assemble A List Of The Most Expensive Cars In The World
If we were the type of to do that, we’d select a rare classic Bugatti and pair it with something from the modern age to really drive up the total value of the list.
The classic Bugatti would absolutely be the 1936 Type 57SC Atlantic which went through auction back in 2010. This one-of-three Bugatti entered the market following the death of its owner, and the gavel came down with a final bid of more than $30 million USD.
Our modern pick for this list of Bugatti cars would have to be the one-of-a-kind Chiron Profilée which came up for auction in early 2023. This unique piece of Bugatti history is the last Bugatti with the revered W16 engine and fetched nearly ten million Euros – a record-setting auction for a new vehicle.
Nor Is This A List Of Luxury Foreign Cars
A list of that sort would require the presence of some interesting Bugatti cars, and we’d like to throw the iconic Bugatti Type 35 race car onto the list. This extremely successful racing Bugatti family of vehicles tallied over 1,000 checkered flags, including a Grand Prix World Championship in 1926. That performance included 351 wins and the setting of 47 records during that championship series.
The Type 35 underwent constant improvement and adjustments, and you might be able to secure a Type 35A which was intended for road use, a supercharged Type 35C, a wire-wheeled Type 37, or a Type 39 with its modified crankshaft. This series of vehicles presents a tremendous opportunity to own a distinguished piece of racing history.
Our second pick for a Bugatti of note would be the 1922 Type 30 Tourer – the brand’s first touring vehicle and first production model with front brakes. This road and race-ready model was powered by the company’s first eight-cylinder engine and, since there were roughly 600 examples of the Type 30 built, you may be able to secure the perfect Bugatti Tourer for your collection.
Is It A List Of The Most Rare or Expensive Cars on Earth? Non, Messieurs Et Dames, Ce N’est Pas Le Cas.
If it were that type of list, you would be likely to find two prototype Bugatti’s featured prominently. Perhaps two vehicles like the 73C Prototype or the Type 10 Prototype.
The Type 10 Prototype is a definitive piece of Bugatti history and was completed by Ettore Bugatti when he could find spare time between 1907 and 1909. He gave it the sobriquet of “Peti Pur-Sang” – the little thoroughbred – and used its unique-for-the-time design to secure initial funding for his company. This piece of history is truly priceless, and could likely only be secured by a determined Arsène Lupin.
The 73C Prototype wasn’t a beginning like the Type 10, but was instead intended as a rebirth of the Bugatti nameplate after World War II. The 73C never made it to a completed stage, though, as the 1947 death of Ettore Bugatti brought a premature end to the project. There are five Type 73C prototypes sitting out there for a truly determined collector of all things Bugatti, so move quickly if you find one on an auction block.
And, Finally, It’s Not A List Of Famous Luxury Cars
