Miami Beach Sightseeing Spots

Gorgeous sunset views on Key Biscayne Beach. Little Havana’s chalk-marked sidewalks outlined by Cuban cafes. South Florida’s swampy yet magnificent nature preserves. If you’re looking for a magical place to snap a photo near Miami, just point your camera in a direction and let the lens do all the work.

Venture out and explore these selfie-friendly sightseeing destinations on everyone's “South Beach Must-Do" list. (Got a cool/stunning/unique photo to share? Post it and tag us on Instagram!)

7. FATVillage

The eclectic FATVillage (Flagler Arts Technology Village) in downtown Ft. Lauderdale offers an intimate setting that’s highlighted by bursts of color – the perfect canvas for any photographer. The four-block district is, itself, a canvas, with its buildings’ stucco and brick walls covered in larger-than-life artwork. It’s one of the coolest places to visit in South Florida, even if you don’t have a camera on you.

To get the best pic, head to FATVillage when they host their monthly ArtWalk event (on the last Saturday of every month). Otherwise, drive by NW 1st Avenue in Fort Lauderdale and get ready to load your Insta with photos.

6. Wynwood

Wynwood in Miami, FL
Get your share of art without leaving the mean streets of Miami by visiting the Wynwood Art District, which has the highest concentration of street art in the entire country. Our favorite? Wynwood Walls. It’s a great spot for families to explore after driving through the rest of the district.

The Wynnwood street art changes frequently, as new muralists and painters are commissioned to beautify the shops and buildings. So, check in seasonally.

5. Ancient Spanish Monastery

Taking casual photos of its architecture is free to guests, but the Spanish Monastery is a very popular location for wedding photoshoots and charges for these types of pictures. Don’t let that stop you from enjoying this marvel in person, though, as it’s seriously a sight worth seeing.

4. Ocean Drive

Park at the southernmost part of Miami Beach. Hop out and start your 1-mile hike up Ocean Drive, one of the most popular places to visit in South Florida.

Look up. You’ll notice the buildings’ amazing Art Deco architecture, which spans from 1st Street all the way up to 15th Street. You may even get a sense of déjà vu as you pass some familiar spots, like Versace’s old mansion or the famous apartment buildings from Scarface. (Famous. Infamous. Same difference.)

As one of the top tourist attractions in Miami and South Beach, lots of action goes down on Ocean Drive, day and night. If you’re patient enough and have your “people watching” skills down pat, you’ll certainly get a few amazing pictures here, right along Miami Beach.

Ocean Drive in Miami, FL
To get the best pic, be sure to skip the drive and burn some calories by walking. That way you can take your time and snag the right selfie angles. We also recommend sightseeing on Ocean Drive at night – that's when the craziness comes out to play!

3. Secret Woods Nature Center

Yet another hidden gem for photographers. Tucked away in northern Dania Beach, Secret Woods lives up to its name, as few tourists see its natural beauty. But their obliviousness is your reward. Lace up your boots and hike the 57-acre park’s nature trails for some otherworldly sightseeing in South Florida. Or if you can’t afford to burn the calories, stay close to the parking lot and snap some photos in the butterfly garden. Either way, you’ll be experiencing one of the best things to do in Miami Beach.

In late summer, between July and September, colorful monarch butterflies typically hatch. Sounds like the perfect time to grab your camera.

2. Tree Tops Park

Only wedding photographers and decades-long Davie residents know about this hidden photographic gem. Tree Tops Park features 23 acres of marshland, lakes and nature trails, alongside picnic areas and playgrounds, making it the perfect spot to take family Christmas photos or fill up your portfolio. Best of all, since it’s not really considered a Miami Beach tourist attraction, crowds are usually small.

You’ll find the best place to take a picture on the boardwalk, particularly around sunset, right before the park closes. Honestly, we’ve yet to find a spot to overtake it as the best place to watch a sunset in Miami Beach.

1. Old Cutler Road

Old Cutler Road in Miami, FL
Although Matheson Hammock Park tends to be on everyone’s “must-see in South Beach” list, we tend to get excited about driving there. That’s because of Old Cutler Road, the 15-mile stretch of roadway constructed underneath a spooky yet mesmerizing canopy of Ficus trees and banyans. It makes for an extraordinary backdrop, especially with your Bugatti Chiron in the foreground. *hint*

Take photos at dusk. Trust us. While Old Cutler Road is a pleasant sight in the sun, it’s a twisted nightmare of tree limbs and shadows once the moon’s out – and we mean that in the best possible way. Just be extra careful. Old Cutler is a popular spot for everyone: drivers, cyclists, walkers, joggers, skippers, moonwalkers, you name it. Keep an eye out.
