As an owner of a hypercar (or 84), the word “average” just isn’t in your vocabulary. To you, an “average” road trip likely involves a cocoon of tanned leather and aluminum accoutrements, a tachometer that just won’t quit, and a set of supercar tires worth more than a standard family sedan. Of course, let's not forget about those gorgeous destinations that few people in the world get to experience. Your little four-wheeled pavement-cation is what grand tourers were made for, essentially.
That begs the question: Where does one go when the “average” road trip involves a rare sports car worth north of 7 figures? To mimic Bugatti’s US Grand Tour down 600 miles of Cali coastline, all the destinations listed below are examples of lavish yet short road trips from Miami. Lap ‘em up, supercar owners. Lap ‘em up.
Naples, FL (137 miles from Miami)
The upscale city of Naples, FL, offers peace and quiet—at least by Miami’s standards—thanks to numerous world-class resorts, well-kept beaches, golf courses and easy access to the Everglades.
On your short road trip from Miami, be sure to stop at some of our favorite Naples destinations, including the Revs Institute. This Florida car museum is one of the only places to see preserved automotive relics of the past. All vehicles at Revs were personally curated and represent some of the rarest models on Earth. In addition to Bugattis, the Florida auto museum also features one-of-a-kind (and of uniquely stylized) vehicles from oft-known manufacturers: Delahaye, Cunningham, Trabant, Arrows, Vanwall, Scarab, Lancia, and Bu-Merc, to name a handful.
Ten Thousand Islands (110 miles from Miami)
Although Revs and the rest of Naples are worthy of a trip, Ten Thousand Islands is where you really want to visit. The vast and remote set of islands, positioned off the southwest coast near Marco Island, makes a road trip...difficult. However, just like Fisher Island here in South Florida, there are several ways to find your way to Ten Thousand. Embark on a boat tour – you can go the public route or take your yacht out – go kayaking, or paddle at high tide.
Once there, you’ll find that the islands offer a gorgeous, natural labyrinth of mangroves, which happen to be the second largest in the world. Traveling by boat or kayak, especially with a local tour guide, is highly recommended, as there are dozens of islands to explore throughout the region. Depending on the season, you may also get to see baby turtles, dolphins, and more wildlife.
Of course, this is a road trip, so we recommend driving the Loop Road around the Everglades before or after your visit to Ten Thousand Islands. The 25-mile gravel road offers stunning sights of the cypress forests surrounding the area.
South Florida Golf Trip (500 miles)
Mix pleasure with pleasure by turning your Florida road trip into a weeklong golf getaway. We’ve already built your itinerary!
Day 1
Starting in Miami, tee off at the The Links at Fisher Island. This exclusive members-only golf course is a nine-holer, so you can get back on the road before lunch.
Hop in your Bugatti Chiron and head 90 miles north for your afternoon tee time at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach. Recognized as one of the premier private golf clubs in the US, Seminole GC is a vacation destination in and of itself – but you’ve got more work to put in at the links this week!
Day 2
After a night of rest, hit the road yet again. This time, you’re venturing into the bear’s den, or The Bears Club, to be exact. Founded by golf legend Jack Nichlaus and his wife Barbara, The Bears Club is a golf course built for traditionalists. Like most of these private golf courses in Florida, The Bears Club requires a membership, so inquire far in advance to your trip.
Enjoy a night on the town, for you’ve got a full agenda tomorrow.
Day 3
Make the trip north to Jupiter Hills Club, a members-only country club located in Tequesta. For over 50 years, Jupiter Hills has served high-end golfers, and they’re about to add another one of those golfers to their list: You.
Spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the sights and nightlife, as you’re about to start the last leg of your Florida golf trip.
Day 4
Head down to Boca Raton’s Boca West Country Club. Tee off in the evening or save your strength for a morning bout of 18; either way, you’ll enjoy one of the most splendid views in all of South Florida.
Drive 120 miles west toward Naples and indulge in all the great attractions and views of the southwest side of the Sunshine State. Sleep off any potential yips.
Day 5
Yips gone? Good. Time to take on the Calusa Pines course. Voted one of the top 10 new private golf clubs in America, this country club is by invitation only, so get your ducks in a row before your trip.
Day 6-7
Here’s that part of the road trip that’s designated for sightseeing. You’ll be traveling 3 hours back south, this time toward the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. Featuring 2 unique 18-hole courses (Hammock and Dolphin Courses), Ocean Reef Club provides you with a true golf championship experience. It’s worth staying for a full weekend.
Once you’ve had enough of your bogey-filled scorecard, toss it out and drive back up to Miami. It’ll end up being one of the best road trips ever, and you’ll have only put 500 miles on your supercar.
